It was a cold, rainy day in March when I decided Michigan's Winter had been long enough, and I was in need of a little getaway. I found a cheap flight for two weeks later and was off to see one of my best friends in Colorado!  My flight flew into Denver on a Thursday night. After Jenna picked me up from the airport, we stopped at the grocery store and headed to her place in Broomfield. Her apartment complex, AMLI at Interlocken, was stunning. The apartments were beautiful from the inside out, stainless steel kitchen appliances, granite countertops, designer lighting with pendant lights in the kitchen, wood floors in the living areas and spacious walk-in closets. My favorite thing about the complex was the rooftop deck with an outdoor fireplace and lounge with amazing views of the Flatiron Mountains.  Friday morning, I slept in for a little bit while Jenna went to work, then I made myself some breakfast and started my day. When I got out of the shower, Jenna had gotten off work early so we headed off to downtown Louisville for lunch at Waterloo, a resturant dedicated to Johnny Cash, inspired by Waterloo Records in Austin, Texas. The food and service were both great and we enjoyed the unique design of the outdoor covered patio. 
After lunch, we stopped by a cute little antique/candy store called Assorted Goods. We were planning one making a music video in the mountains the next day, so we had to check the place out for unique video props! We bought a mask, and some delicious homemade handcrafted chocolates, and headed back to Broomfield!
Saturday morning was the day I had been looking forward to the most! Jenna and I were getting ready to head to Boulder to hike the Flat Irons. I had never even been to the mountains before, but I knew I would fall in love instantly. We borrowed a backpack from Jenna's roommate, got some waters and some clementines and we were off! I'm glad I wasn't driving because I was completely distracted from the views entering Boulder. I remember sitting in the passenger seat staring out the window like a kid that just walked into Disney. The mountains have always held so much mystery to me and I couldn't believe I was about to walk into them. 
When we got back to the apartment later that evening, we made some margaritas and quickly fell asleep, we had another long day of visiting the hot springs in the morning. I really don't have much to say about the hot springs. The experience was great, but miserable at the same time. I don't see how people find it to be enjoyable. We bought a private room that was underground for an hour and were ready to leave after 20 minutes.I t was like being trapped in a hottub inside a sauna in a tiled cave. That's the only way I can think to explain it. There was a hot springs pool outside but I had been warned about how dirty those can be so picked a smaller, hopefully more clean area to "relax". It was unlike anything I had ever seen and I'm glad we checked it out for ourselves!
Sunday was my last full day in Colorado. Monday morning I spent most the day editing our music video that we made in-between planning our days and exploring. It was such a memorable trip and I'm thankful I came when I did because just a few months late Jenna moved back home. I hope I get to come back again and see more of the state, but until then I'll be exploring Washington! Stay posted!
